COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will provide the student with the foundation for discovering techniques through practice and demonstration of various applied digital and standard photography techniques and practices. Students will use cameras and Adobe Photoshop digital media software to explore the potentials for creating professional digital photographs, including additional work in image manipulations and multimedia applications. Participants will share an understanding of the processes they have used to create new digital images and photos, in the form of a class-wide critique.
OBJECTIVES
A To develop an understanding of digital camera usage, storage of media in multiple formats, and production of high quality photographs, images, and multimedia presentations according to the assigned project parameters.
B To allow others to enjoy and appreciate their work and discuss the techniques used in class. Students will work to the best of their abilities and be receptive to the support and criticism of the teacher when necessary.
C To show relevant historical and cultural ties to their work through exposure (research) and the development and manipulation of digital images influenced by the techniques and considerations of popular artists of the past and present.
D To learn and relate to each other in a respectful and thoughtful way that allows for safe, meaningful study and experimentation with cameras and digital image manipulation.
E To meet and gain insight on career and post-secondary preparation from Professors of Digital Media from local colleges.
LEARNING RESOURCES
A Use of Computer Lab for instruction and completion of assignments and art room printer for delivery of images to inkjet photo paper for several major projects. Students will need to supply their own cameras.
