The Art Faculty of Maranacook Community High School
Students at MCHS are offered a variety of beginner to intermediate level art courses that inform and prepare them in the study of visual arts.
Beginning with Corliss Chastain, teacher of Drawing I & II, Painting, Black & White Photography, and Honors Studio Art, students are given expert level instruction on numerous techniques and methods used by both traditional and contemporary artists. She looks for the best from her students and assists in creative decision-making.
Herb Aldrich, instructs and designs classes that prepare and alter the way students view their own art and gives them effective and thoughtful methods of achieving success through their own determination and exploration. Herb teaches Drawing I & II, Introduction to Art, and Printmaking.
In the words of Jeremy Smith, who believes in the power of the creative process to transform his students from individual artists into people who carry a sense of connection to visual imagery and artforms, "art is the single-most time-consuming thing that I enjoy and engage in because it helps me to develop an awareness of my fellow humans." Jeremy teaches Ceramics, Introduction to Art and Digital Photography.
